What is the difference between Zappi Glo and Zappi 2.1?
The main difference is how the charger is controlled. The Zappi Glo is fully app-controlled with no built-in screen or buttons, giving it a cleaner and more compact design. It also adds RFID tap-to-charge, Bluetooth connectivity, and compatibility with selected myenergi Gridpay services.
The Zappi 2.1 includes a graphical display, physical controls, and a wired Ethernet connection. Both support ECO, ECO+ and FAST charging modes, along with solar PV integration and smart tariff charging.
Does Zappi Glo Needs a screen or button to use?
No. The Zappi Glo is a screenless, buttonless charger by design. Everything is managed through the myenergi app on your smartphone. Once configured, charging begins automatically based on your scheduled settings or mode selection. You do not need to interact with the charger itself, other than plugging in your vehicle.
Does the Zappi Glo need an Earth Rod?
No. The Zappi Glo includes built-in PME fault detection, which means a separate earth rod is not required in most standard domestic installations. This keeps the installation straightforward and avoids groundwork in most cases. We confirm the earthing requirements at survey stage.
What is GridPay and does Zappi Glo support it?
Gridpay is a myenergi service that rewards households for supporting the electricity grid during periods of peak demand by agreeing to brief automated adjustments to their charging schedule. This is a form of Demand Side Response (DSR). The Zappi Glo is Gridpay-compatible. Participation is opt-in and managed through the myenergi app.
How does the RFID work on the Zappi Glo?
RFID (Radio Frequency Identification) allows any registered user to tap an RFID card or fob to the Glo unit to start a charging session, with no PIN or phone required. Up to 126 users can be registered, each with a unique identifier tracked in the myenergi app. Access can be granted or removed remotely at any time. We register your cards and fobs during commissioning on installation day.
How much does Zappi Glo Installation cost?
